Description
Studentswill undertakepractical activitieswhich include:
Jigmakingand solid timber joining techniques.
Frameand solid carcase cabinet construction– traditional and contemporary.
Japanese style stool&occ table.
Machining techniques involvingmaterial preparation, joint construction, turningand
finishing.
Teachingand learningof staticmachines andpower tools.
Teachingand learning the safeuseof staticmachines andpower tools.
Assessment
Therewill beanemphasisonpracticalwork throughdesigningand critiquing, evaluating
and theapplicationof practical skills forproduct construction.
A folioofwork (designbrief) covering thedesigningandmakingof apieceof furniture
must be kept andpresented for assessment.
Studentswill undertakea rangeofwrittenassignments relating toknowledge issues in
WoodTechnology.
