The Hamilton Disability Unit provides a secondary education for students who live with a range of physical and intellectual disabilities. The Unit is an integral part of Hamilton Secondary College and provides the highest standard of education and care for all students.
Staff in the Hamilton Unit have a strong commitment to working with families to ensure that the education we provide is the best possible. Staff understand the importance of communication, and appreciate the key role parents play in the education of their children. The Negotiated Education Plan, which is updated each year, enables parents and staff to work closely in setting learning goals and monitoring student progress.
Incorporated into all learning areas are the Capabilities, which are used to help students develop the skills and personal independence needed for effective participation in society. These skills include Communication, Learning, Personal Development, Citizenship and Work.
